Skylodge in the Sacred Valley A whole new experience

We all -including Cusco Peru Travel– agree that sleeping is one of life’s most pleasant activities, but can you imagine doing it under the stars in a transparent Sacred Valley Skylodge that is suspended along the mountainside?!

A night of sleep in the flight zone of condors 1,312 feet above Sacred Valley of the Incas and wake up with a fascinating birds-eye view of the Valley and the imposing Andean mountains.

This may sound like a fantasy or a fairy tale, something totally unbelievable. But the truth is that the Sacred Valley Skylodge is real, and it is located about 10 minutes away from Ollantaytambo.

Spending a night up there will not only be a truly unique and magical experience but also an adventurous one. The way to reach the Sacred Valley Skylodge is pure adrenaline, which is perfect for passionate outdoors people and thrill-seekers.

Do you want to know more about this new interesting experience? Indeed yes!

Reach for the sky: Sacred Valley Skylodge

As we mentioned above, the way to reach the Sacred Valley Skylodge Suites -a series of three transparent modules- is a dream come true for adventure lovers.

To sleep at the Sacred Valley Skylodge, you must climb 400 m. via Ferrata or hike a trail through zip lines. The first option is an extreme adrenaline rush, the other one is better if you want fewer palpitations.

You must not worry, the Sacred Valley Skylodge offers both experienced and inexperienced climbers the chance to have an enjoyable and safe experience. Trust us. An adventure in the hanging Sacred Valley Skylodge is completely worth it.

Once you arrive at the hanging module after two or three hours of climbing, you descend into your module where you can take out your harness and contemplate the breathtaking views of the Andes.

Indeed, the Sacred Valley Skylodge offers stunning 300-degree views over the Sacred Valley. And its structure is so stable that you hardly feel the wind blowing outside.

Without a doubt, a Skylodge adventure sounds like one of the coolest things you can do during your holidays in Peru, don’t you think?

* The Sacred Valley Skylodge has three Adventure Suites: Luna, Silves, and Miranda with a total capacity for eight guests.

Comfortable stay

The interesting part about sleeping at the Sacred Valley Skylodge is not only the impressive, magical and mystic views of the Sacred Valley but also the way it is designed.

The Skylodge suites are designed with a healthy touch of environmentalism. Solar panels are used as an energy source, and each bathroom has a dry ecological sink and toilet.

Moreover, the modules have a futuristic touch. When you see them for the first time, you will feel like you are inside of a science fiction movie, which makes them even cooler! They are made of high resistance polycarbonate and aerospace aluminum, and measures 24 feet in length and 8 feet in height and width. Four beds, a dining area, and a private bathroom perfectly fit this space. The fabulous and cozy mattresses are fitted with soft linen and down pillows not only to ensure an enjoyable and pleasant sleep but also for stargazing through the transparent roof once night falls.

Furthermore, the food is delicious and of excellent quality. Many visitors were fascinated with the native products of the Andes. Spending the night at the Sacred Valley Skylodge really makes you feel in a “Million stars hotel”.

I think your eyes are gleaming right now and you are thinking that zip line in Sacred Valley is completely worth it. So, go for it!

Back to reality

The next day, after a complete breakfast, you must start the descent to the ground.

You have to climb further up the mountain to reach a trail. Then take the first of six zip line wires and start ziplining down the mountain.

Although you come back to reality, you must keep this experience as a precious and epic memory.

* One of the zip lines is 2,000 feet long.

What to bring

  • Light and comfortable clothing like long-sleeve shirts and hiking pants. Don’t wear shorts.
  • When you gain velocity during the zip line, the weather gets windy and colder so, we recommend wearing also a windbreaker, down jacket or fleece.
  • Lightweight and comfortable footwear like hiking boots or athletic shoes but not sandals.
  • A small backpack for your toiletries. *The Sacred Valley Skylodge doesn’t have showers.
  • A bottle of water and sunscreen
  • Camera

This last one is optional. The Sacred Valley Skylodge offers a photo package. We consider this is a good option because it is safer, and not nearly as stressful, than trying to take photographs yourself.
