DAY 1: SACRED VALLEY TOUR, PISAQ, OLLANTAYTAMBO & AMARU COMMUNITY
Today we will take you to visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will visit the Andean community of Amaru, where you will experience the daily life of a typical mountain community and observe how the people weave textiles, such as belts and blankets, and how they grow and harvest their produce and participate in their daily lives. The local people will offer you different types of delicious Andean potatoes and corn to taste. The next stop on our amazing journey into the valley will be the pretty little village of Pisaq, which has a large daily market full of goods for both tourists and locals. At this market you will find villagers, who come down from the mountains, to sell their home-grown produce and unique handmade arts and crafts. This market is highly recommended for having a wide variety of interesting souvenirs at great prices. After you have purchased all your souvenirs at the market you will board the bus for a scenic ride up to the incredible Pisaq Ruins, which are a magnificent collection of ruins that served religious, military and agricultural purposes. The ruins were built in a strategic position overlooking the valley and now providing stunning scenery while you pass the marvels such as, the Sun Temple, cemetery, water ducts and agricultural terraces. After you finished exploring the ruins at Pisaq, you will continue to travel through the beautiful valley to Ollantaytambo, one of the last Incan refuges during Spanish colonization. On arrival into Ollantaytambo you will be amazed at the ancient streets and houses displaying original architecture and the magnificent Inca ruins in front of you. Tour one of the houses to observe the building and the way in which the people lived in Inca times, after this unforgettable experience we will visit the powerful and impressive Ollantaytambo ruins, temples and terraces. The site continues to be well preserved not effected by the Spanish conquest and provides an interesting insight into how the cities were designed during the Incan period. After your Sacred Valley tour, we will continue back to Cusco and your hotel where you can have a relaxing evening and dine in one of the many fine restaurants in Cusco.
